Fraudster disguised as Forbes journalist targets BAYC holders

An attacker pretended to be a Forbes journalist during an interview and tried to steal non-fungible tokens (NFTs) from Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) collectors. The attacker, posing as a Forbes journalist , approached the holder with a request to share his experience with the popular NFT collection BAYC. One of the collectors using the X handle @crumz10 said that he miraculously escaped the scam. SCAM ALERT!! OpenSea former exec imprisoned for NFT insider trading

A former head of product at NFT marketplace giant OpenSea has been sentenced to prison and will forfeit the Ethereum (ETH) he gained from his insider trading activities.  In May, Nathanial ‘Nate’ Chastain was convicted of fraud and money laundering. The update was revealed in a press release on Aug. 22.  Chastain, whose job at OpenSea included selecting NFTs appearing on the platform’s front page, will serve a three-month jail term and another three months of home confinement. The former OpenSea executive will also be subject to three years of supervised release, pay a fine of $50,000, and forfeit the ETH he gained from the NFT insider trading . Oddly, following news of a New York Grand Jury voting to indict former president Donald Trump on March 30, the floor price for the officially licensed Trump Digital Trading Cards NFT project pumped. According to data from OpenSea, NFT traders were seemingly spurred into action by the announcement, with the floor price moving from 0.46 Ether (ETH) or $835 at current prices, to as high as 0.6 ETH ($1090) on the same day.
