Do Kwon Set To Be Extradited to the US After Losing Appeal in Montenegrin Constitutional Court: Report

Disgraced Terra (LUNA) founder Do Kwon is reportedly going to be extradited to the US after losing an appeal in a Montenegrin high court. According to a new report by France 24, Kwon – the person suspected of being behind the multibillion-dollar downfall of the Terra ecosystem in 2022 – had his appeal thrown out by the Montenegrin Constitutional Court, which earlier in the year ruled that the conditions for his extradition have been met. However, Justice Minister Bojan Bozovic still had to decide whether to extradite Kwon to the US or South Korea, both of which have pending charges against him. As stated by the Montenegrin Ministry of Justice, according to the report, “It was concluded that the majority of the criteria prescribed by law favor the extradition request from the competent authorities of the United States of America. Consequently, the Minister of Justice issued a decision approving the extradition of Kwon Do Hyung to the United States, while si...

UK ‘El Chapo’ faces 120 years in US prison over bitcoin-for-drugs ring

A UK man dubbed the ‘El Chapo of the Cotswolds’ is facing 120 years in prison after a court ruled he can be extradited to the US to face charges of running an illegal drugs ring that has allegedly raked in more than $6 million in Bitcoin . Matthew Grimm was charged with five counts of drug charges and one count of money laundering for his alleged role in a multimillion-pound drug racket selling designer amphetamines to US customers. The 49-year-old allegedly ran the operation alongside two accomplices for over 10 years, transporting drugs from the Netherlands using online marketplaces such as ‘Smokeyschemsite.’ US authorities reportedly froze £5.2 million ($6.5 million) worth of bitcoin connected to his alleged drug proceeds.  Grimm was arrested in 2022 and given the green light for extradition by the country’s then-Home Secretary. He later appealed his US extradition, telling prosecutors to ‘bring it on,’ before, as reported by the Mirror, a High Court judge ruled again...

Conspiracy theorists should accept that SBF is likely going to prison

While Protos, by virtue of being a news outlet, has avoided the truly unhinged and off-base takes making waves on X and YouTube regarding the Sam Bankman-Fried case, they’re worth disc US sing for one reason. Namely beca US e many people seem to believe in their hearts that — despite a disastro US trial, SBF being forced back to jail during his bail, and witnesses for days testifying against Bankman-Fried — the alleged fraudster will soon walk free. Let me add here that I have no special insight, am not a lawyer, and anything is possible in the world of criminal trials. On that note, there is almost no chance that Sam Bankman-Fried walks away free from this court case. The odds are in the prosecution’s favor According to Pew Research data, while nearly 90% of federal court cases end in guilty pleas, only 2.3% went to trial, and of those 80% ended in convictions. Generally, the best move for a defendant facing federal charges is to strike some sort of deal with th...

SBF to offer friends $1,200 an hour to testify at his trial

Alleged multi-billion-dollar fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried is reportedly preparing to offer a group of friends and former colleagues up to $1,200 an hour to testify on his behalf at his October trial. As reported by Bloomberg Law, according to a letter filed in New York earlier this week, the group of up to seven ‘expert witnesses’ will be asked to shed light on campaign finance laws, FTX and its software, and hedge fund affiliate Alameda Research. Among the witnesses are former Federal Election Commission chairperson Bradley Smith who’ll speak about US campaign finance laws and straw donors, and consultant Peter Vinella who’ll claim that many of the allegations levelled at  Bankman-Fried are, in fact, “widely-accepted practices in the financial services industry.” Professor Andrew Di Wu, another potential expert, would testify on blockchain technology and the 2022 Crypto market collapse . However, prosecutors could yet block these witnesses from taking the stand. While the U...

Balaji’s latest prediction: US gov’t will remotely seize crypto

Former Coinbase CTO Balaji Srinivasan predicts that the US government will confiscate private keys from millions of crypto wallets via iPhones and Android devices, claiming that the companies possess remote access to private key shards via firmware ‘backdoors’ and cloud storage. Srinivasan gained credibility for his early warnings about COVID-19. Admittedly, he lost some of that credibility after losing his bet that bitcoin would hit $1 million and this latest prediction is even more difficult to believe: an extralegal confiscation of private property “to remit stolen funds to a cash-hungry federal government.” The would-be Nostradamus calls these tech giants a “systemic risk” to the crypto industry. Balaji prediction comes amid fears of Ledger Recovery His prediction piggybacks on heightened fears of Ledger’s remote access to private key shards . The hardware manufacturing giant released a firmware upgrade for all hardware wallets (except the Nano S) that w...
