DIA Lasernet launches first-ever Layer 2 oracle technology on testnet

DIA has launched Lasernet on the Ethereum (ETH) testnet, pioneering the first Layer-2 rollup designed specifically for oracle infrastructure, according to the latest information shared with Finbold on Wednesday, November 27.

The innovative deployment should raise the bar for trustless, permissionless, and decentralized data delivery in blockchain applications. Developers can now test both pull- and push-based oracles on Ethereum Sepolia ahead of Lasernet’s mainnet release in Q1 2025.

Leveraging advanced technologies to promote oracle innovation

DIA’s new oracle stack ‘Lumina’ espouses modularity, fostering collaboration and leveraging advanced blockchain technology like Optimism’s OP Stack, Conduit, Hyperlane, and Celestia.

Optimism’s OP Stack supports enterprise-grade scalability, enabling on-chain oracle data computation while preserving data verifiability, immutability, and trustlessness.

Fahim Sachedina, Partnerships Manager at Optimism, praised the collaboration, stating:

“DIA’s Lasernet rollup, powered by the OP Stack, represents an important advancement in decentralized oracle infrastructure. We’re proud to support DIA in bringing this technology to life with our MIT-licensed, open-source stack.”

Conduit upgrades DIA’s rollup deployment and management, ensuring operational efficiency and reliability.

Andrew Huang, Founder of Conduit, expressed pride in the joint effort, saying:

“DIA’s Lasernet rollup is a powerful demonstration of how Conduit’s technology can simplify the operation of more complex use cases such as oracles. We’re proud to collaborate with the DIA team on launching the first oracle layer-2 rollup.”

Hyperlane’s interoperability framework provides seamless communication across EVM and non-EVM blockchains, fostering oracle data accessibility and making Lasernet a universal blockchain-agnostic solution.

Jon Kol, Co-Founder of Hyperlane, also showed his support by commenting:

“DIA’s vision for Lumina, powered by the Lasernet rollup and Hyperlane’s open framework, represents a major leap forward in oracle infrastructure. We’re excited to collaborate with the DIA team bringing oracle data to any chain.”

Finally, Celestia’s scalable data availability layer offloads storage and boosts capacity, supporting high-volume data sourcing and on-chain oracle computing.

Layer-2 as a vital part of the oracle technology evolution

DIA’s Lasernet aims to overcome the traditional oracle challenge of balancing decentralization with scalability and cost efficiency by enabling cost-effective, decentralized computation on Layer-2 while maintaining Ethereum-level security.

Ultimately, the Lumina stack emphasizes permissionless access, trustless processing through Aggregator smart contracts, and distributed data sourcing via a network of nodes secured by crypto-economic incentives.

DIA also encourages other developers and researchers to explore Lasernet and contribute to the future of Oracle technology, with the goal of creating a permissionless and open data layer for Web3.

With its upcoming mainnet launch in 2025, DIA has the potential to revolutionize data delivery across the Web3 ecosystem.
