Hulk Hogan And Ozzy Osbourne Meme Coins Skyrocket After Their Deaths

Meme coins themed around Hulk Hogan and Ozzy Osbourne have surged in price following the deaths of the two icons this week.

Hogan, the wrestling legend whose real name was Terry Bollea, died at the age of 71 on Thursday. Two days earlier Osbourne, the frontman of heavy metal band Black Sabbath, passed away at the age of 76.

Opportunistic developers quickly flooded the market with tribute tokens. A Wrapped Ethereum coin called Hulkamania (HULK), launched less than 12 hours ago, soared more than 122,000% at its peak.

Other Hogan-themed Solana tokens, including RIP HULK HOGAN (HULK HOGAN) and Hulk Hogan (Hulk), also saw their prices surge.

HULK HOGAN and Hulk pumped over 138% and 128%, respectively, according to data from GeckoTerminal.

Meanwhile, a token called The Mad Man (OZZY), created in honor of Osbourne, pumped more than 16,800%, reaching a $3.85 million market cap.

None of the tokens are connected to the estates of either man.

Not The First Meme Coin Launches After Famous Deaths

The recent flood of Hogan and Osbourne meme coins is not the first time developers have tried to capitalize on the deaths of famous people.

Cryptos inspired by former NFL player and convicted felon OJ Simpson populated the market after he died in April 2024.

Similarly, the death of former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in November 2023 also led to the spawning of several meme coins in bad taste.
